Motorcycle beginner

Hello,

Sorry for the English – someone on the english forum.ch said that Motorcycle Training may be available in English J

I have a 19 year old daughter – she currently has no driving license at all. I would like to know her options for training for her motorcycle license. I understand she must do a theory test and a first aid course but I am confused as to what size of bike she may train on and what category of license she can have at her age. Could you please let me know the options and availability of courses and prices.

Thanks,

Bob

My answer to Bob's question

Hi Bob

I recommand in that case to start on a 125cc Scooter. When she has no traffic experience, everything else is too dangerous. After the theoretic test and course in first aid she will get a learners permission (category A1) and has to pass some mandatory parts (lessons in groupes). Before she starts she must already know to drive. I recommend for that some individual lessons with me. Normally the student drivers have their own vehicule, but I can help with motorcycles (from 125 up to 1100cc) and I have only a 50cc-scooter. For the prices you can look in my homepage: http://motoschule.ch/preisliste.html

If you some further information, please contact me again

Bob again

Hi Urs,

Thanks for the information.  I see there is a 2 * half day practice plus theory course for 400 CHF – would the theory course be available in English? (she is learning German but not good enough for this sort of thing).  We will provide her with a bike once she is allowed on the road – we will go with the scooter idea to start.

If she passes the A1 test does this allow her to ride an A (limited to 25Kw) motorcycle with L plates?

Thanks,

Bob

My second answer

Hi Bob

The category A1 has nothing to do with an other category. From the law somebody can start with 18 year old directly on big bikes (category A with not more than 25kW) If you love your daughter I recommend to start with the smaller, slower vehicle because she has first to get some experiences in the traffic. When she is doing the mandatory part in my motorcycle school, she has to start with the 2* half day practice for the first 4 lessons of the «obligatorische Grundschulung». The second part she will do together with my on the back seat of her scooter in individual lessons, what will be 2 to 4 double lessons. So she will learn much more about the traffic and to avoid dangerous situation. She will also learn to be a good rider, what she needs for the exam. It is not possible to learn that in a group.
I am a specialized school for motorcycle only (since more than 25 years!), so the minimum what the law says I can not sell: It is not possible to learn the program properly in such a few lessons.

I would be glad to hear from you as soon your daughter passed the theoretic test.

Kind regards
